Karma

10/06/2023 Click here for Spotify, Apple Music, or Youtube. “Karma” is my 59th official release. The song was self-recorded, but mixed, and mastered by Keyano and the beat is by Ken while the cover art is made by Kentzho from fiverr.

I talk about this blog post and other updates in the latest Sunday update here:

Like the last two releases “Karma” is from “The Chalice Mixtape” that I made back in 2017. I redid select songs and this is one of them. I had the beat remade to sound similar but all original. The song is about how you should do good because Karma will come back around, even if that means in terms of civilization and what you mean in history. Roman Gladiators were the rock stars of Rome, now I bet you can’t name a single one. Just like Greek poets they’re are only known to history and their name doesn’t last or matter anymore.

In the same way, contemporary artists are rock stars of America when they will probably never be remembered in any real historical context. And those seen through the eyes of history are less forgiving and will look at your actions holistically. So as the song says and tries to give apprehension towards “be ratchet and a tool, karma’s waiting for you.” This is supposed to give you pause and make you think about being a destructive force because history will be less forgiving and karma will ultimately tell your legacy.

Lyrics:

Napoleon Bonaparte

Fame is fleeting

But obscurity is forever

Maybe obscurity is certain

Cuz nothing lasts forever

Homer and Aeschylus

Are never in your rhetoric

The last time someone says your name you'll be dead again

What matters to you?

Why not act a fool?

Be rachet and a tool

Karma’s waiting for you

This my world and I do what I like too

I’ll be like you and be my idol, huh

J. Cole thinkin' “not another white dude”

I’m here to help you out ain’t tryna bite you

I be god damned if I don't run my life like a business

Stack when I get it, give back to the indigenous

Like we didn't take their culture

Treat um like a call girl

Feed um what we call fair

Left um all at fault there

But damn dog, You make the ghetto sound romantic

Why you frontin'? When it really bout the status

Attention is on me, though my community in shambles

I used to make money cuttin' drugs up like a cantaloupe

I do it for me, I’m such a misanthrope

That’s how you sound and it really ain’t a joke

In these economic conditions

You need it to live on

I get it, you hustled hard,

But don’t get it wrong

Homer and Aeschylus

Are never in your rhetoric

The last time someone says your name you'll be dead again

What matters to you?

Why not act a fool?

Be rachet and a tool

Karma’s waiting for you

Came in the game to fuck it up and make it change

Cause you to engage

Make you fraught with indignation

Grunt, flaunt, stunt

You ain't never gon’ stop my shine I do it for the love

I'm talking Uncle Ruckus

These white people takin’ duck hunt

You ain't my girl, why you jock’n bitch, cunt what?

You crazy, insane, no, I don’t need a nut, naw

I’m just like you, see, I couldn’t give a fuck, uh

How am I the feminist

When you rappers so effeminate

You protect your mind like wealth

Close it off and fence it in

Tell me do you give a shit

Tell me who you benefit

The behavior, the genesis

The poverty we living in

I think my insignificance

And what it really meant to live

don't think you're really getting it

You just got a grave to dig

Fame is fleeting

Name a Roman gladiator

Or an ancient Greek poet

Look you’re just a fad you hater

Homer and Aeschylus

Are never in your rhetoric

The last time someone says your name you'll be dead again

What matters to you?

Why not act a fool?

Be rachet and a tool

Karma’s waiting for you
